Monthly Archives: June 2016

Dear Readers,

Wow!  Can you believe that the first half of June has already sped by?  It’s true that summer vacation has just begun, but as we all know, it won’t be long at all before this much anticipated break from school will be drawing to a close, and children all over the US will be counting down the days to the start of a new school year.  For many of them these precious summer months will have passed much too quickly, but for one little girl the first day of school can’t come soon enough!

Who is that little girl, you ask.  I’ll give you a hint . . . when she was born she weighed 14 pounds!  Need another clue?  Her mother kept asking everyone if they thought her little girl was fat?  Yes, you’ve guessed it . . . it’s Just Plump Penelope!  And in August she will be boarding that big yellow school bus with her older brother Liam and their friend and neighbor Cody for her first day of kindergarten.  Penelope is super excited for school to begin, and she’s even more eager to share the story of her first day of school with all of her readers.

I must confess that Sue, Jen and I are just as excited about JPP’s new book, Just Plump Penelope Goes to Kindergarten, as Penelope is about meeting her teacher and her classmates.  And we hope that you, dear readers, are looking forward to finding out what happens to Penelope as she begins her elementary school journey.

Oops!  I almost forgot!  Just to help you get ready for the release of Just Plump Penelope Goes to Kindergarten, Sue has agreed to release a number of her awesome illustrations so that you can share in the excitement.  Here is the first one:  your first glimpse of Penelope, age 5, on the first day of kindergarten!  That’s a lot of firsts!  More illustrations will follow as we get closer to the book’s launch date in late August, just in time for the start of the new school year, so all of us — Sue, Jen, Penelope, and I — hope you will check into our website regularly.

Until next time, enjoy these wonderful summer days.  After all, it won’t be long before school bells ring once again!
